We are all human.
But I think that people who insist that Trayvon could have “been black or white” are missing the point, here. Call me crazy…but I think that he was shot because he was brown enough to be “suspicious.”
I mean, I get the ornate “love & hug all” nostalgic talk, but my job isn’t to make White people feel better about racism so that they can better “relate” to me. Because I don’t feel good about racism, and you’re not relating to me if you assume that I should hide the anger that is produced when others attempt to dehumanize me. If we are all to acknowledge our equal humanity, then we’d better get something straight: we discuss racism honestly, or we continue to struggle against each other.
I love my all my brethren, but I won’t let anyone kill me without defending myself, and I certainly hope the world can understand.
Pseudo-liberalism is more suspect than a Black man could ever be.
Sincerely,
your sister who couldn’t “have been White” because she was born too Black. #Hue-Man
